PNP lauds 2 Bulacan cops for swift action in putting out vehicle fire

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday commended two police officers assigned to San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan who helped put out a vehicle fire over the weekend.

In a statement, PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. lauded Police Staff Sergeant Arjel Torres and Patrolman Gerwin Bihasa for their swift action.

The two police officers were conducting a mobile patrol operation along Road 2 in Barangay Minuyan at around 6:07 p.m. of Saturday, January 3 when they noticed a Mitsubishi L300 truck that was on fire.

They stopped to help put out the fire and secured the area to minimize the danger to other motorists and residents in the area.

The PNP said the fire was immediately placed under control without any casualties or damage to other property as a result of the two police officers’ speedy action.

“Hindi ito tungkol sa arrest o operasyon – ito ay tungkol sa malasakit. When our police officers see danger, umaaksyon agad sila. This is the kind of service our people expect from the PNP,” Nartatez said.

(This is not about an arrest or operation – this is about caring. When our police officers see danger, they quickly take action. This is the kind of service our people expect from the PNP.)

He added that the police officers’ actions also showed the true meaning of police service.

Nartatez reassured that the PNP, aside from enforcing the country’s laws, can be counted on as a reliable partner of communities in times of need.

“Maaring simpleng tulong lang itong masasabi, pero malaking bagay sa mga taong apektado. These actions prevent bigger harm and save lives. I’m proud of our personnel who continue to do the right thing,” he added.
