Devotees pray for solution to flood woes, jobs, family during Traslacion 2026

Several devotees braved challenging conditions during Traslacion 2026 to offer various prayers to Jesus Nazareno, including a plea for long-term solutions to their town's flooding problems.

In a "24 Oras" report by Mark Salazar on Friday, devotee Raymond shared that he was joining the procession to pray for his hometown in Apalit, Pampanga.

“Sana po magka-long-term solution na yung baha sa amin sa San Vicente, Apalit, Pampanga… Sa may Bagong Pag-asa. Almost 30 years na kaming lumulubog,” he said.

(I hope there can be a long-term solution to the floods in our town at San Vicente, Apalit, Pampanga… In Bagong Pag-asa. We’ve been submerged for almost 30 years.)

Devotee Luzviminda Magallanes also shared that she was waiting for the andas to ask God for help on the current challenges she was facing.

“Kaya po ako lagi nandito para maging sa mga kalusugan ng pamilya ko, lalo-lalo ng mister ko. Kasi actually po mula nung nagkasakit po yung asawa ko, gumuho na rin po yung bahay namin. Kaya po lagi ako nandito. Humingi ako ng gabay, awa at tulong sa Panginoon na talagang sana po maibsan niya yung aming kahilingan,” she shared.

(The reason I’m always here is for the health of my family, especially my husband. Kasi actually, since he got sick, my home has since collapsed. That’s why I’m always here. I am asking for guidance, mercy, and help from God and hope that he can really help us in our prayers.)

Meanwhile, devotee Mary Jane Evora said that she and her husband attended the feast of the Jesus Nazareno since they prayed to it 10 years ago to save their child.

“Binigyan niya ako ng isang anak na kritikal. Five months lang yun, inanak ko, makunan ko… Pinapili na yung asawa kung ako ba o yung anak ko. No choice yung asawa ko, mas pinili ako, pero nanghihinayang kami dun e. Ang pangarap namin, dalawa kami ang mabuhay,” she shared.

(He gave me a child who was in critical condition. It was just five months pregnant… They made my husband choose between my child and me. My husband had no choice and picked me, but we regretted that choice. Our dream was for both of us to survive.)

“Sabi ko sa kanya, hilingin mo sa Panginoong Nazareno, lumapit ka sa Hanya, baka sakaling ibigay Niya sa atin ito… Hindi ko alam na pumunta siya sa Nazareno. Nagkusa siyang pumunta, tapos nung nilabas yung bata, buhay,” she added.

(I told him, pray for it to the Nazareno, go to Him and He might give this to us… I didn’t know he actually went to the Nazareno. He went on his own, and when I gave birth to the child, it was alive.)

Devotee Lorenzo also said that he initially didn’t join his family during the Traslacion, but he kept getting involved in life-threatening incidents since he was a child.

“Nagulungan ako ng gulong ng taxi, pero nakasurvive ako noon… Tapos noon, for another year, siguro mga 10 years old ako, ganoon na naman. Taxi na naman, nakabundol sa akin. So sabi ko sa Kanya, siguro pinamumulat ako ng Panginoon Diyos na kahit na bata ako at dahil minsan, nakikita ko sa mga tiyahin ko kung ano yung kanilang panata,” he said.

(I got rolled over by a taxi, but I survived… And when I was around 10 years old, the same thing happened. It was another taxi that hit me. So I told Him, maybe God was trying to tell me something... I also see my aunts express what faith truly is.)

Another devotee said he prayed for a successful business venture, while another said he hopes he would soon find a job.

As of 7 p.m., Quiapo Church said that the total crowd estimate was at 980,000.

Authorities earlier shared that the Traslacion may reach more than 21 hours due to the slower pacing of the andas and a “more aggressive” approach being taken by devotees to reach the image.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
