Vintage bomb found in UP Diliman campus

A vintage bomb was found inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City on Tuesday.

The bomb was excavated in front of the Institute of Chemistry Teaching Building, the Quezon City Police District (QCPAD) said.

The Philippine Collegian, the official student publication of UP Diliman, reported that the bomb could be from World War II.

“Upon receipt of the information herein, responding officers proceeded to the said place for ocular investigation and secured the area, then informed QCPD/EOD for assistance. Upon the arrival of EOD personnel, they rendered safety procedure (RSP) and recovered one (1) vintage bomb (corroded) for custody and proper disposition,” the QCPD said.

According to the Philippine Collegian, the said building was evacuated after the discovery of the vintage bomb and classes have been suspended. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
