5 PUPCs killed in Payatas road accident

Five persons under police custody (PUPC) were killed in a vehicular accident in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, the city government said on Friday.

According to the QC government, the victims were on board a police mobile, going to Payatas City Jail, when the road accident happened. Emergency and health personnel immediately responded and brought the victims to the hospital for medical attention.

Unfortunately, five PUPCs died, and one remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, four police officers are undergoing medical treatment.

The QC government expressed sympathies to the families of the victims as it vowed to shoulder the hospital and burial expenses for the victims.

It will also provide psychosocial support and counseling so that other victims may recover from the incident.

The local government will also coordinate with other agencies for the investigation of the incident. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
