Parañaque fire displaces 600 families costing P900k in damages
About 600 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in Lower Barangay, San Antonio in Parañaque City late Wednesday evening, according to the report of Bam Alegre on "Saksi."
Early morning on Thursday, fire reached Task Force Alpha alarm that indicates a serious, escalating blaze requiring around 24 fire trucks to combat the fire.
Barangay officials said two men were reported injured and were given medical attention while a female resident fainted.
The BFP said 500 up to 600 families or 1,800 individuals were affected by the fire.
Meanwhile, the cost of damage was pegged at P900,000 while more than 100 infrastructures were damaged.
"Umabot tayo sa Task Force Alpha kasi yung ano natin unang una yung lugar medyo masikip at the same time water supply natin. Yung looban masyadong malalayo, so umabot tayo sa 20 na putol ng firehose para lang maabot yung ating mga nasusunog na mga kabahayan," said BFP Fire Superintendent Liher Bautista.
(We reached Task Force Alpha because what we had to do was first of all the area was quite crowded and at the same time our water supply was very limited. The courtyard was too far away, so we had to use 20 pieces of firehose just to reach our burning houses.)
According to Jellyn Bautista, from the Barangay San Antonio Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), someone may have started a fire behind one of the houses but they are still waiting for the final report of the BFP.
According to the BFP-National Capital Region, the blaze was declared under control at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday. — BAP, GMA News
