Bus conductor hurt in EDSA Busway crash in QC

A bus conductor was injured after a passenger bus crashed into concrete barriers along a portion of the EDSA Busway near the MRT-3 Kamuning Station in Quezon City on Sunday.

According to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB, the bus driver said he failed to notice the barriers while traveling southbound because passengers standing beside him obstructed his view.

However, some passengers alleged that the driver was checking or responding to a message on his mobile phone while driving. Authorities have yet to verify the claim and are continuing their investigation.

The conductor was pinned after one of the concrete barriers smashed through the front portion of the bus, prompting rescuers to conduct an extraction operation to free him.

The incident caused heavy traffic along the southbound stretch of the EDSA Busway near Kamuning Station.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA News
