NBI: 2 kg of shabu seized, suspect arrested in Quiapo drug bust
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized almost two kilos of suspected shabu and arrested a suspect in a recent drug buy-bust operation in Quiapo, Manila.
The suspect was allegedly attempting to sell a significant volume of methamphetamine hydrochloride during the May 6 operation.
“It’s around two kg… More or less two kg,” an NBI forensic team member said in a press conference on Wednesday.
Investigators believe the suspect is part of an organized group involved in drug distribution.
“With regard to whether this is a syndicate, we can say this is a syndicate,” an NBI agent said.
The group is believed to be operating within Metro Manila, although authorities have yet to determine the full extent of its network.
As of the latest update, the NBI said no foreign nationals have been linked to the case.
Authorities are continuing case build-up efforts to identify other individuals connected to the operation and to trace the source and distribution routes of the seized drugs. — JMA, GMA News
