Water interruption hits parts of Metro Manila, Cavite after Maynilad pipe got damaged

Residents in several parts of Metro Manila and Cavite experienced water service interruptions after a 750-millimeter pipeline in Ermita, Manila was damaged over the weekend.

Maynilad said the pipeline along Antonio Villegas Street corner Natividad Lopez Street was accidentally damaged by a contractor of the Manila City Government, GMA News’ Unang Balita reported on Monday.

Emergency repair works were immediately conducted following the incident.

The Manila Public Information Office said affected areas in Manila were expected to experience water interruption from 9 p.m. on May 24 until 3 p.m. on May 25.

The following barangays in Manila were affected by the water interruption:

Maynilad added that several barangays in Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Pasay would be affected by water interruptions until Monday evening.

Some areas in Bacoor, Cavite City, Noveleta, Kawit, and Rosario in Cavite were also expected to experience temporary water service interruptions.

Meanwhile, some barangays in Las Piñas and Imus, Cavite may continue to experience interruptions until early Tuesday morning.

Maynilad said mobile water tankers would be deployed to affected communities if necessary while water service is gradually restored after the completion of repairs and pressure normalization. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
