The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday announced the suspension of the expanded number coding scheme on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in observance of Eid’l Adha.

In an advisory, the MMDA said the number coding scheme is automatically lifted during regular holidays and special non-working holidays.

“Planuhin mabuti ang inyong biyahe upang maiwasan ang anumang aberya. Sumunod sa batas-trapiko at mag-ingat sa inyong pagmamaneho,” the agency said.

Malacañang earlier declared May 27, 2026, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha.

The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ earlier announced that the blessed month of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH began on May 18, with Eid al-Adha set on May 27.

Eid al-Adha is the second-most important celebration in the Islamic calendar, according to the Bangsamoro government.

During the three-day observance, Muslim families gather to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s (Alayhis Salam) devotion to Allah through prayer, sacrifice, gift-giving, and feasting.

Also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” Eid al-Adha is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.—MCG, GMA News
