Ateneo assistant coach Sandro Soriano attends NBI probe into Baterbonia, Adili deaths

Ateneo de Manila University men's basketball team assistant coach Sandro Soriano appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday amid an ongoing probe into the deaths of players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

According to Christian Maño’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, Soriano was accompanied by his legal counsel, Atty. Raymond Roxas.

They headed to the NBI’s Homicide Division.

Soriano declined to comment to the media regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, nine players from Ateneo’s men's basketball team arrived at the NBI past 1 p.m. with their relatives and lawyers to give their statements, GMA News' John Consulta reported.

The players were brought to various rooms to give their statements.

Baterbonia and Adili died in a drowning incident during a team building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8.

Soriano, along with Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin and others, is a subject of an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order, which alerts authorities should they attempt to travel abroad.

Meanwhile, Baldwin is expected to appear before the NBI on Friday, June 19.

On Wednesday, several players from the Ateneo men's basketball team shared their account of the incident with the bureau. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ/VBL, GMA News
