LTO permanently revokes license of Mandaluyong hit-and-run SUV driver

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday permanently revoked the driver's license of the SUV driver in the fatal hit-and-run along Ortigas Avenue in Mandaluyong City that killed a motorcycle passenger and injured the rider.

"Ipinasya ng Land Transportation Office na permanenteng bawiin ang driver’s license ng drayber ng isang SUV na naunang inisyuhan ng Show Cause Order (SCO) kaugnay ng hit-and-run incident sa Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City," the agency said in a news release.

Following a hearing conducted by its Intelligence and Investigation Division, the LTO said the driver was found liable for reckless driving. He was also declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, which became the basis for the permanent revocation of his driver's license.

Authorities also noted that the SUV carried a House of Representatives (HOR) sticker that covered its conduction sticker, while its license plate was concealed with a newspaper at the time of the incident.

The vehicle will also remain under alarm status in accordance with the resolution issued by the LTO.

Earlier, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil said the registered owner of the SUV was not a member of the lower chamber. The LTO had said that video footage showed the conduction sticker of the SUV was covered by a sticker bearing the name of the House of Representatives.

The Mandaluyong City Police Station earlier said that the SUV rammed the victims' motorcycle along Ortigas Avenue on July 10, 2026. The motorcycle passenger died on the scene, while the rider sustained injuries and was brought to the hospital for treatment. —LDF, GMA News
