Habagat enhanced by Maymay brings early morning rains to parts of Metro Manila

Several parts of Metro Manila experienced heavy rain early Wednesday due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat enhanced by Tropical Storm Maymay.

According to a report of Jhomer Apresto on GMA News' Unang Balita, heavy rain poured over parts of Quezon City shortly around 2 a.m., reducing visibility around EDSA Kamuning.

The downpour lasted for about 30 minutes and caused gutter-deep flooding along the northbound lane of EDSA Quezon Avenue.

Rainfall later on eased to drizzle.

Traffic flow along Quezon Avenue remained normal and commuters did not experience difficulty in finding public transportation.

In Manila, heavy rain was also experienced around 2:05 a.m. along UN Avenue.

No flooding was reported along Taft Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, and España Boulevard.

Caloocan City also experienced heavy rain accompanied by strong winds shortly after 2 a.m., particularly in the vicinity of 9th Avenue in Grace Park East.

The rainfall lasted for nearly 20 minutes but no flooding was monitored along major roads including Rizal Avenue.

According to PAGASA's 5 a.m. weather forecast, Metro Manila may continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms until 5 p.m. due to the enhanced Habagat.

PAGASA advised the public to remain alert and monitor announcements from their local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices for possible weather-related hazards and updates. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA News
