The water level at La Mesa Dam in Quezon City breached the critical level on Sunday amid heavy rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Data from PAGASA showed that the water level was at 79.77 meters as of 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The dam's critical level is 79.50 meters while its spilling level is at 80.15 meters.

Should water be released or spill from the dam, low-lying areas and barangays along the Tullahan River, from Quezon City, Valenzuela City, Caloocan City, Malabon City, and Navotas may be affected.

The public were advised to stay alert and prepared for the continued rise of water in the Tullahan River. —KG, GMA News
