Who is defense lawyer Justin Nicol Gular?

The defense team's cross-examination of witness Karen Batu of the Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday, the 25th day of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, was conducted by attorney Justin Nicol Gular.

A senior associate at Fortun Narvasa & Salazar Law, Gular also serves as the defense team's deputy spokesperson.

He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of San Carlos.

According to the law firm, Gular is a three-time Grand Champion of the ANC Square Offs: The Firm Debate during his studies.

Gular was also featured last week, when the trial tackled the issue of the apparent aliases found in the acknowledgement receipts for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education’s (DepEd) confidential funds. — BM, GMA News
