Actress in assault raps posts bail

Actress and television host Plinky Recto posted bail Thursday evening to evade arrest on direct assault charges filed by her former live-in partner. The actress, Marie Roxanne Gonzalez Recto in real life, surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) early Thursdsy night and was later brought to the sala of Manila Judge Casiano P. Anunciacion Jr where she paid her P12,000 bail bond about 7 p.m. Recto is the younger sister of Senator Ralph Recto and Batangas Vice Governor Richard Recto. Recto barely “escaped" arrest after elements from operatives from the Southern Police District (SPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) went to her home and tried to serve a warrant of arrest issued by the Bago City trial court. Recto was charged with direct assault and slight physical injuries for allegedly kicking and hitting the left leg of her former partner, identified as lawyer Magdaleno Peña, during a child custody hearing on January 18 at a Negros Occidental court. Recto had sought custody over her son, insisting she is a better example to him than Peña. As stated in complaint sheet filed by Peña, the said incident was allegedly witnessed by Recto’s counsel, Rowena Guanzon, Court Bailiff SPO1 Ernesto Salmo, the court stenographer Evelyn Montoyo and the court interpreter. Recto herself has filed a criminal complaint against Peña before the Department of Justice for allegedly beating her on June 28 last year inside their condominium unit. - GMANews.TV
