BSP issues P100 banknotes with oblation to mark UP centennial
MANILA, Philippines - To mark the centennial of the University of the Philippines, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued P100 bills with an overprint of the iconic UP Oblation. In a statement posted Tuesday on its website, the BSP said it printed 10 million copies of the P100 banknotes with the Oblation overprint. "The Oblation, a sculpture of a naked young man in symbolic offering of service to country and humanity, is a masterpiece of Filipino artist Guillermo Tolentino. Bangko Sentral printed 10 million pieces of the 100-piso banknotes with the oblation overprint," it said. BSP governor Amando Tetangco Jr presented to UP president Emerlinda Roman a whole sheet with 32 pieces of the P100 UP centennial banknotes. Also, the BSP launched the BSP-UP Centennial Professorial Chairs for agriculture, accounting, banking and finance, foreign trade, money and banking, statistics, business administration, monetary and banking economics, and government and official statistics. - GMANews.TV
