Pagasa: Rains loom in west Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines - An inter-tropical convergence zone and a southwesterly surface windflow may bring rains to the western section of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, state weather forecasters said Monday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said these areas will experience scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. "Western section of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said in its 5 p.m. advisory. Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the western section of Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds coming from the southwest and southeast will prevail with slight to moderate seas except during thurderstorms. - GMANews.TV
