BFAD orders recall of 3 glutathione brands

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) has directed the importers and distributors of specified batches of three gluthatione products to recall batches of their products from the Philippine market. In a health advisory dated July 7, the BFAD said the batches were found "containing less than the amount of glutathione they purport to possess." Ordered recalled from the Philippine market were Glutalife Dietary Supplement (Batch 20078019); Lucida-DS/Gluthatione 500 mg (Lot No. 168015L); and Vaniderm/Dietary Supplement (Lot No. 168015V). "Likewise, the respective importers/distributors were directed to immediately establish or present evidences to the Bureau assuring that the other batches of the product in question contain the amount of glutathione they purport to possess," BFAD said in its Health Advisory 2008-006 signed by Director Leticia Barbara Gutierrez, the contents of which were posted on the BFAD website (www.bfad.gov.ph) Friday. "Accordingly, all concerned parties are hereby enjoined to refrain from distributing, selling the above-identified batches of the said products," Gutierrez added. - GMANews.TV
