(Update) Road rage shooting triggers tension in Makati

MANILA, Philippines - A shooting incident spawned by a case of road rage between drivers of a sports-utility vehicle and a taxicab triggered tension in Makati City before noon Tuesday. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that the incident occurred near the RCBC Plaza building along H.V. Dela Costa Street, when the driver of the Ford Expedition with plate number EXP-703 fired a handgun during an altercation with a taxi driver which began at the nearby Saudi Arabian embassy. The gunshot caused tension among other motorists in the area. No reported injuries were initially reported as a result of the shooting. A separate report from dzXL radio said witnesses saw the shooter enter Avignon Tower along H.V. Dela Costa Street corner San Agustin. Makati police arrested a security guard in the building after the guard blocked a police team headed by Superintendent Manny Santos from going after the suspect. Makati police director Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz was rushed to the scene to oversee the operations. Meanwhile, the management of nearby Planters’ Bank complained that a bullet from the shooter’s gun hit the third floor of the bank’s building. The bank's security guards also said the shooter also pointed his gun at them when they rushed to inspect the area where they heard gunshots, thinking there was a holdup incident. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
