Cebu Pacific moves operations to new terminal

MANILA, Philippines - Starting Tuesday, Cebu Pacific flights from Manila to Boracay (Caticlan), Laoag, Naga, San Jose (Mindoro), and Tuguegarao will originate from the newly-opened NAIA Terminal 3. In a statement, the Gokongwei group’s budget carrier will transfer part of its domestic operations to the newly-opened facility after it became the first airline to use it. A Cebu Pacific plane bound for Caticlan at 5:10 a.m. was the first flight serviced by the NAIA-3, a radio report made by dzBB’s Denver Trinidad said. NAIA-3 assistant general manager Tirso Serrano said NAIA-3 was to initially accommodate five flights of Cebu Pacific for the day. He added Serrano said NAIA-3 will start accommodating other local airlines such as Air Philippines and Philippine Airlines (PAL) Express starting next week. For his part, NAIA general manager Alfonso Cusi said the terminal is 98 percent complete, and will be ready to accommodate international flights after three months. “The new terminal will be able to accommodate our growing passenger base and more importantly, offer a better passenger experience. We hope to move the rest of our domestic operations to Terminal 3 after a few days," Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific’s vice president for marketing said. “Once we have completed the transfer of our domestic operations into Terminal 3, we intend to move our international operations as well. This will allow us to operate efficiently and give passengers availing of our domestic to international connections a hassle-free experience," she added. “Other domestic flights will remain at the Manila Domestic Airport Terminal while all international flights will continue to operate at the NAIA Terminal 1," Cebu Pacific Air said. Besides claiming to have the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines, Cebu Pacific says it is the country’s single largest domestic airline. The company operates ten A319, eight A320, and two ATR 72-500. - GMANews.TV
