Robin Padilla donates P2M to charity
MANILA, Philippines - The former âBad Boy" of Philippine movies has shown his generosity by donating to charity the P2-million talent fee he received for promoting the machine that would automate the elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) this August. GMA Newsâ 24 Oras reported that Padilla gave the amount to the Liwanag ng Kapayapaan foundation to finance the education of 53 less fortunate children. Avante International Technology, the company that would automate the ARMM polls, paid Padilla P2 million for endorsing the Optical Mark Reader. The technology will be used in the ARMM elections on August 11 in Shariff Kabunsuan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Norte and Basilan. âKadalasan sinasabi dyan po yun dagdag bawas, dyan yung wala naman eleksyon babayaran lang. Atin pong suportahan ang awtomasyon ng eleksyon," Padilla said. The action star added that with new technology, the results of the elections could be known 36 hours after all the votes have been cast. During the press conference, poll chairman Jose Melo joked that he would have accepted the offer to endorse the machine had he been informed about the huge talent fee. - GMANews.TV
