Parañaque cop chief in hot water over ‘motel cop’ mess
MANILA, Philippines - Following Tuesday's "motel cop" incident, Parañaque City police director Superintendent Ronald Estiles faces the specter of being sacked from his post. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported Wednesday that Metro Manila police chief Director Geary Barias said the incident may be the "tipping point" for Estiles' removal. Estiles was embarrassed Tuesday after one of his men, PO3 Jose Salazar, was found to have parked a police patrol vehicle near a motel and bar in Pasay City. Barias noted that even before Tuesday's incident, Estiles already had two things going against him â he is considered "overstaying" at his post, being there for five years. A second factor against him was that he has not been promoted to senior superintendent, the "required" rank for a city police chief. Meanwhile, Barias said he is also considering "reshuffling" two more Metro Manila police city directors, including Senior Superintendent Alfred Corpuz (Taguig) and Senior Superintendent Franciso Uyami Jr (Taguig). - GMANews.TV
