Construction work at Makati supermarket halted
The Makati City government on Wednesday halted construction work inside the compound of Cash and Carry supermarket after two workers died and another laborer was injured during a Tuesday night mishap. Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio, Makati police chief, said Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay ordered the construction stoppage to give way to the police investigation into the incident. Construction workers Alden Monteroso and Randy Maravilla died after being buried in mud as the ground around a drainage system gave way. Their companion, Danilo Paquiros, was said to be in stable condition at the Ospital ng Makati. The three were employed by the ICC Construction Company. Authorities believed continued rains could have loosened the soil at the construction site along the South Superhighway near Buendia Avenue in Makati.-GMANews.TV
