Tight security up in signing of homeland deal in Malaysia - MILF
MANILA, Philippines - Strict security will mark the signing of an agreement on ancestral domain by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Malaysia on August 5. The MILF said Friday that this was one of the guidelines in the event to be held at the Marriott Hotel in Putrajaya, Selangor, Malaysia. "Guests and other participants will be issued ID cards. Those without IDs will not be allowed to enter the session hall. Security check is very strict, according to a source in the Malaysian Secretariat," the MILF said in a statement on its website. Non-government organizations (NGOs) accredited by the government and MILF are entitled to two slots, while those nominated by the Philippine government or MILF are allowed to have only one slot for each NGO. Members of the media, whether local or international, will register for accreditation at a center in or near the Marriott Hotel provided for by the Secretariat. The actual signing ceremony, scheduled at noon of August 5, will follow speeches by Foreign Ministers Rais Yatim (Malaysia) and Alberto Romulo (Philippines). A press conference and lunch then follow. - GMANews.TV
