Authorities start review of ‘Princess’ salvage plans


MANILA, Philippines - Authorities started meeting Thursday to review initial salvage plans drawn up for the capsized MV Princess of the Stars. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that members of a task force handling the tragedy, along with officials of the Coast Guard and Sulpicio Lines Inc., attended the meeting. Coast Guard Commander Allan Rivera said he will lead the review of the salvage plans, which will involve Titan Salvage, the foreign firm commissioned by Sulpicio for the salvaging. Present at the meeting were Coast Guard commandant Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo and Sulpicio first vice president Edgar Go. During the meeting, the Coast Guard stressed the need for the salvage firm to retrieve the bodies of the capsized ship's crew and passengers. The MV Princess of the Stars capsized off Romblon last June, at the height of Typhoon Frank. - GMANews.TV
