Gordon opposes all-out war vs MILF

MANILA, Philippines - At least one senator has voiced his opposition to the proposed all-out war with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Speaking at the weekly Usapang Daungan sa Danarra Hotel in Quezon City, Sen. Richard Gordon said operations by the police and military should be limited only to those rebel units that attacked North Cotabato and Lanao del Norte recently. “I’m against an all-out war against the MILF, but I’m for all-out war against the recalcitrants,” he said. Gordon is the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross which has sent teams to help the evacuees and families displaced by the ongoing military operations in Mindanao to hunt the MILF rebels involved in recent atrocities. Earlier, pardoned former President Joseph Estrada called on President Arroyo to declare an all-out war against the MILF similar to what he did during his administration. Estrada’s call were echoed by Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr and Panfilo Lacson. - GMANews.TV
