Armed men take P180k in tabloid offices raid
MANILA, Philippines - At least 10 unidentified motorcycle-riding men brandishing handguns and shotguns took some P180,000 from the office of two tabloid newspapers in Manila's Port Area district before dawn Monday. Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported the men struck the Remate and Tiktik offices and carted away P160,000 in collections of Tiktik and P20,000 of Remate. The twin heists were made while security guards of the tabloid newspaper offices were watching television. The men also took the security guards' cell phones and other valuables. Sketchy initial reports indicated the armed men had with them homemade shotguns, cal-.38 revolvers and cal-.45 pistols. One of them even fired his shotgun in the air before they fled. However, the men abandoned one of the motorcycles, which broke down during their escape. In a separate report, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo said police are trying lift fingerprints from the abandoned motorcycle. The report also said police are not discounting the possibility of an inside job in the robbery. - GMANews.TV
