Arroyo to groundbreak 2 new school buildings in Mandaluyong

MANILA, Philippines - President Arroyo will lead the groundbreaking for the construction of two elementary school buildings in Mandaluyong City Thursday, Malacañang said Wednesday. A Palace statement said Arroyo will first break ground at the future site of the Ilaya Barangka Elementary School (IBES) in Barangka Ilaya village at 10 a.m. The school will be a four-story, 36-classroom academic building and will cost P80 million, P5.5 million of which will come from the Department of Education (DepEd). After the IBES groundbreaking rites, she will proceed to the Do a Pilar Gonzaga Elementary School (DPGES) in Hagdan Bato Itaas village. The second school is a 3-story, 12-classroom Science Building. Mandaluyong City Rep. Neptali Gonzales II said the DepEd selected DPGES as one of the three elementary science schools in Metro Manila last year. With the special curriculum and requirements of such a school, DPGES will need a science building that will feature special facility rooms for computers and laboratories. Gonzales said the city government had released P20 million of the total P24-million cost under the DepEd's school building program. - GMANews.TV
