Pagasa: SPLA spotted east of Catanduanes
MANILA, Philippines - A shallow low-pressure area south of Catanduanes in Bicol may bring rains to Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, state weather forecasters said Sunday afternoon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the SLPA was estimated at 480 kilometers east of Catanduanes as of 2 p.m. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, Pagasa said the SLPA was embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Visayas which may trigger flashflood and landslide. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. Light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon and coming from the south and southeast over Visayas and Mindanao. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms. - GMANews.TV
