Japanese tourist loses P488K in Pasay hotel

MANILA, Philippines - A 73-year-old Japanese tourist lodged a complaint against a hotel in Pasay City early Wednesday after losing some P488,000 in cash supposedly inside the establishment. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that the Japanese, initially identified as Akira Yamanaka, discovered he lost the Y1 million (P438,281) and P50,000 cash he deposited in a safe box in the hotel last Tuesday. Yamanaka said he deposited the money at the Copacabana Hotel in Pasay City shortly after checking in upon his arrival in the country last Aug. 17. He said he reported the loss to the hotel management, which allegedly denied the claim and, instead, accused the victim of making up stories. Police are now investigating the matter. - GMANews.TV
