Fire hits public market in Tondo, Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Fire hit the Lakandula Public Market in Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday morning, destroying some P1.5 million in property. The blaze broke out at 2:42 a.m. at the stall of a certain Marivic Recto, according to Fire Officer 2 Guillermo Fermalino of Manila Fire Department. Aside from the market, which is at the corner of Wagas and Lakandula Streets, the blaze also destroyed about eight houses. The fire reached the fifth alarm and declared out after at 4:39 a.m. No one was reported injured. Fire probers have not determined the cause of the fire. - GMANews.TV
