Cops kill 3 suspected robbers in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines - At least three of six suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) police operatives in Marikina City before dawn Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported that the slain suspects were brought to a funeral home while the two arrested suspects were subjected to a paraffin test. Police initially identified the two arrested suspects as Salvador Felipe and Alwin Depalo Jr. On the other hand, the two slain suspects bore tattoos indicating they were members of the Sputnik Gang. Recovered from the suspects were two cal-.38 revolvers, bullets, a grenade, and the vehicles. The incident occurred along Dao Street in Marikina Heights village in Marikina City, after police flagged down the suspects who were aboard a maroon FX-type vehicle and a motorcycle. Initial investigation showed the suspects fired at the SWAT team, prompting the police to fire back and kill two of them. However, one of them managed to elude arrest. - GMANews.TV
