Kraft says Chinese-made products contain no milk ingredients
MANILA, Philippines - Food giant Kraft Foods on Wednesday said China-made products that it is selling in the Philippines have no milk ingredient. The statement was issued in the wake of the discovery of melamine-tainted milk from China that harmed 53,000 babies in the country. Four infants have also died owing to kidney ailments from the toxic substance. Kraft said products which are free from milk ingredients include biscuits under brand names Oreo Sandwich Cookies, Oreo Crumb and Chips Ahoy; cheese under brand names Kraft Eden Original, Eden Singles, Eden MeltSarap, Kraft Cheez Whiz Original, Kraft Cheez Whiz Pimiento, Kraft Cheez Whiz Pizza, Kraft American Singles and Philadelphia Cream Cheese; confectionery under Toblerone; Salad Dressings/spreads and other products under Kraft Real Mayo, Miracle Whip All-Purpose Dressing, Kraft Sandwich Spread, Miracle Whip Sandwich Spread; and specialty/away from home products such as Mega Mayo, Pizza Cheese, Filled Cheese, Special Cheese. âKraft Foods does not source any milk ingredient from China for use in its manufacturing plants in any country outside China," the company said. Kraft also said that its non-coated Oreo biscuits (Flat Wafer, Flute Wafer) that are produced in China do not contain any milk powder as an ingredient. Although China-produced coated Oreo (Oreo Sandwich Enrobed, Wafer Stick White, Wafer Stick Black, Wafer Stick Mint, and Wafer Stick Real Chocolate) contains milk powder, this milk powder is sourced from Australia.
