MMDA to go after National Building Code violators
MANILA, Philippines - Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) head Bayani Fernando on Sunday said the agency would step up its crackdown on violators of the National Building Code. Radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported that the MMDA had observed that many building owners in Metro Manila have built structures that obstruct open spaces reserved for sidewalks and parking areas. Fernando said he would not hesitate to tear down those structures and file cases against violators. He said sidewalks are for pedestrians and not for the use of private and commercial establishment owners. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
