2 more tested positive for melamine content

MANILA, Philippines - Two more China-made milk products tested positive for melamine content, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday. In the sixth installment of the DOH's laboratory tests for melamine-tainted products, the following products were found by the Bureau of Food and Drug (BFAD) tainted with melamine: Lotte B+W Koala biscuit and Lotte Chocolate snack Koala Biscuit. The following 22 products, meanwhile, were cleared for melamine content: *Angels First Love Barquillos Fresh Milk Wafer Sticks *Barbecue Candy (MM) *Darrys Milk Choco Candy *Golden Fuji Crisp Tomato Flavor Cracker *Golden Fuji Vegetable Flavor Cracker *Houshuang Winter Mint Candy (MM) *KZ Gundam Long Candy *Lipton Milk Tea (Original Flavour) – Product of Indonesia *Lipton Milk Tea (Vanilla Flavour) – Product of Indonesia *Nice Choice Pineapple Cake *OO Chocolate Bean Candy *Sandwich Biscuits (green wrapper, in Chinese character) *Sandwich Biscuits (purple wrapper, in Chinese character) *Sandwich Biscuits (yellow wrapper, in Chinese character) *Sour Lollipop 2 in1(Strawberry, Orange, Pineapple) *Sweet Dart 8.8 Butter Ball Candy *The New Zealand Company Milk Bon-bon Yogurt Milk Soft Drops (Grape flavor) *W.L. Yaahoo Cheese Biscuit *Zhongsan Meihua Galletas De Chocola Te Butter with Filling Cake *Zhongsan Meihua Good Taste Sweet-Smelling and Crisp Biscuits (Nutrition Health Foods) Last Monday, the DOH cleared 18 canned meat products from melamine content based on the findings of the National Meat Inspection Service. BFAD, through the DOH, had earlier released four installments of its laboratory testing results on China-made milk and milk-based products for melamine content. BFAD found 103 milk and milk-based products to be melamine-free, but confirmed melamine content in four products. Products that tested positive for melamine included: Lotte Strawberry Snack Koala Biscuit, JollyCow Slender High Calcium Low Fat Milk (more calcium & Vitamin D) 1 Liter, Greenfood Yili Fresh Milk, and Mengniu Drink. The melamine scare erupted in September when health officials in China reported 54,000 illnesses, including four infant deaths, due to kidney stones and other renal failure resulting from milk tainted with melamine. - with Sophia Dedace and Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
