LTFRB: Jeep, bus fare rollbacks formalized Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) expects to formalize fare rollbacks for buses and jeeps when it meets anew with representatives of transport groups Tuesday. LTFRB executive director Emmanuel Mahipus said the stakeholders had already agreed in earlier backdoor talks to a 50-centavo provisional rollback for jeeps and a P1 rollback for buses. "Ifo-formalize tomorrow sa hearing ang provisional reduction na 50 centavos sa jeep, at P1 sa buses sa first five km (We will formalize Tuesday the provisional reduction of 50 centavos for jeeps for the first 4 km and P1 for buses for the first 5 km)," Mahipus said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said LTFRB chairman Thompson Lantion already talked with the transport group representatives who agreed to the rollback in principle. In an earlier radio interview, Lantion said some of the transport groups already implemented a 50-centavo provisional rollback during the All Saints weekend.
