First Gentleman open to daughter’s wedding

MANILA, Philippines – First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo on Tuesday said he would give his blessings to his 37-year- old lone daughter Luli should she decide to marry her boyfriend, a television report said. GMA’s late-night news Saksi on Tuesday said that Mr Arroyo was open to comment about his daughter’s rumored wedding plan, which began to float around just this month. In an email to GMA News, Luli remained mum about the issue, saying she wanted her private life to remain private. “…basta personal life ko, ‘di ko talaga sasagutin…I really just want to keep my private life private, as it has always been," the presidential daughter said. Luli is the youngest among the three presidential children. Her brothers – Pampanga Rep Juan Miguel “Mikey’ Arroyo and Camarines Sur Rep Diosdato “Dato" Arroyo – have their own families. Mr Arroyo neither confirms nor denies the rumored wedding, but he said he has no problem with Luli’s boyfriend. “He’s a nice guy," Mr Arroyo said when asked about Luli’s boyfriend during his visit to beneficiaries of his charity program at the Philippine General hospital on Tuesday. When asked if he would agree with Luli’s marriage, Mr. Arroyo said: “Oh yes I’ll approve it," adding, “Of course I’d like to see her get married also.
