Taxi group: Fuel rollbacks not enough to scrap P10 mandatory tip
MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila-based taxi operators are not too keen on having their P10 "mandatory tip" withdrawn in the wake of recent rollbacks in prices of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas. In a radio interview, Association of Taxi Operators of Metro Manila head Leonora Naval on Wednesday said the rollbacks are too small to make up for the losses they absorbed as early as 2004. "Palagay ko dapat siguro isaalang-alang ang maraming bagay bago hilinging i-rollback namin ang P10 na binigay sa amin sa loob ng apat na taon (Perhaps the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board should consider many factors before rolling back the P10 provisional fare hike it granted us in the last four years)," Naval said in an interview on dzXL radio. She also said the rollback in the prices of fuel and LPG had not been enough to justify removing the P10 added fare, saying the recent rollbacks in oil and autogas prices are "kapiranggot (a pittance)." - GMANews.TV
