Man killed playing ‘Russian roullete’
MANILA, Philippines â Playing âRussian Roulette" proved fatal for a 27-year-old driver in Manilaâs Sampaloc district, police said on Wednesday. Police identified the victim as Joseph Romero, bachelor, a resident of 2708 Legarda St. in Sampaloc. He died on the spot due to a bullet wound on his right temple. A report by the Manila Police District - homicide section said Romero had a drinking binge with neighbors Jonathan Mejino and Abel Valerosa his friends inside a house at 7708 Legarda St., on Tuesday afternoon when he reportedly challenged them to play the Russian roulette. Senior Police Officer 2 Virgo Villareal said that at the height of the drinking spree, the victim reportedly pulled out his .38-caliber revolver tucked on his waist, loaded it with a bullet, rolled the chamber of the gun and pointed it on his right temple. Villareal said that while Mejino admitted that the victim played Russian roulette âjust for fun," probers were still looking into a possible âfoul play." Police say not a few Filipinos have been killed playing Russian roullete, a deadly game popularized by the "The Deer Hunter," a 1978 movie on the Vietnam War, starring Robert De Niro. - GMANews.TV
