Suspected ‘doughnut gang’ member killed in QC car chase
QUEZON CITY, Philippines - A suspected member of the so-called doughnut gang was shot and killed by police in a car chase in Quezon City Thursday evening, a radio report said. A report on radio dzBB said that police have yet to identify the fatality, who was wearing a white shirt and black pair of shorts. Initial investigation showed that the man tried to escape but was cornered by operatives of the District Police Intelligence Operations Unit and the mobile patrol unit of the Quezon City Police District. The chase started from k-6th St. West Kamias and ended on Salgado Street, Kamias. According Senior Supt. Federico Laciste, they received complaints from residents that a gang has stolen their spare tires. Laciste said the complainants told police that the gang members were riding a blue Toyota Revo (WJH 119), and he immediately flashed a citywide alarm. Laciste added that the victims also reported the incident to patrol units, which immediately caught up with the gang. âDumaan din yung mobile car natin so doon nag-sumbong at initially yung ang naghanap. Nagkasalubungan sila hanggang sa naghabulan," he further said. âIba-ibang sikot and dinaanan niyan sa station 10 bago umabot dito sa station-9. Pag dating dito sa station-9 iba-iba sila, nagbabaan yung iba haggang itong isang to hinabol mula sa kanto hanggang sa nag barilan. Yung Revo naman tumakbo sa iba-ibang kalsada hanggang naipit siya dito sa Salgado Street," he added. Meanwhile, two others were wounded in the incident.
