Driver killed, passenger hurt in Pasig road accident

MANILA, Philippines - A driver was killed while his passenger was in critical condition after their utility vehicle rammed into the back of a trailer truck in a freak accident in Pasig City before dawn Monday. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported that the incident occurred past 2 a.m. along Marcos Highway in Santolan village in Pasig City. Killed was Reynaldo dela Cruz, 27, driver of a maroon Isuzu Hi-Lander (FEG-963). His passenger, Jesus Perillo, was in critical condition. Investigation showed the Hi-Lander plowed into the back of a trailer truck loaded with plywood. The truck had slowed down to make a U-turn at the time. The impact pinned the two victims inside their Hi-Lander. On the other hand, police are investigating whether the trailer truck's lights were on, saying dela Cruz may not have seen the truck in front of him. - GMANews.TV
