Administration lawmakers laud lifting of PP 1017

Administration stalwarts in the House of Representatives lauded Friday President Arroyo’s decision to lift the state of national emergency, saying Filipinos can now go back to regular day-to-day activities, GMA 7’s DZBB reported. House Majority Leader Prospero Nograles said the President has shown that she remains in full control of the peace and order situation in the country. However, Nograles advised the people to remain vigilant against groups seeking to destabilize the government. Despite the President’s decision to lift emergency rule, Nograles said the public should be mindful of the things happening around the country. Mrs. Arroyo on Friday signed Proclamation 1017, which placed the country under a state of national emergency. With the order, she authorized the enforcement of warrantless arrests and the cancellation of rally permits.-GMANews.TV
