Makati starts giving P1,000 year-end gift to senior citizens
MANILA, Philippines – Makati City Hall started distributing on Tuesday the year-end P1,000 cash gift to senior citizens (those aged 60 or older) under its Blu Card program, Mayor Jejomar Binay said in a statement. The city has 37,376 senior citizens who are registered Blu card holders. "The cash gift might seem a minimal amount, but we believe our elderly constituents would truly appreciate the fact that they are remembered, especially this Christmas," Binay said. The cash gift will be released between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m at barangay halls under the following schedule set by the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD): • December 5 - Bangkal, San Lorenzo, and Poblacion • December 8 - Forbes Park, Urdaneta, Guadalupe Viejo, and West Rembo • December 9 - Sta. Cruz, Pio del Pilar and Olympia. • December 17 - Barangay Cembo, Carmona, and Comembo • December 18 – Bel-Air, Pitogo, Pinagkaisahan, and Post Proper Southside • December 19 – Palanan, San Isidro, and Magallanes Earlier, on December 2, 3 and 4, Blu Card holders got their gifts in the following barangays: Post Proper Northside, Dasmariñas, La Paz, South Cembo, Guadalupe Nuevo, San Antonio, East Rembo, Kasilawan, Tejeros, Pembo, Rizal, Valenzuela, and Singkamas. The rest of eligible senior citizens will be given their cash gift in January and August next year. Those who file their Blu Card applications after the cut-off date (December 31) will also be entitled to the mid-year cash gift next year. In related development, senior citizens of the city will also get their traditional Pamaskong Handog Ticket starting December 15. The tickets entitles each senior citizen to a bagful of groceries, T-shirts, and other items. - GMANews.TV
