Fire hits residential area in QC


MANILA, Philippines - Fire of still undetermined origin hit a residential area at Sitio Militar, Bahay Toro village in Quezon City shortly after 12 noon Monday, but no one was reported hurt. In a phone interview with GMANews.TV, Association of Fire Volunteers’ Malou dela Cruz said authorities from the Bureau of Fire Protection placed the fire at fifth alarm at 12:30 p.m. As of posting time, the fire is being placed under control by authorities, Dela Cruz said. She added that only light materials have so far been damaged because of the fire. Dela Cruz, however, said authorities have yet to estimate the amount of damages. Meanwhile, dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz identified the area as an informal settlers’ residential area in Bahay Toro village. The radio report said the area is between the Quezon City General Hospital and the Balintawak substation of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and beside a certain North Point Town House. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
