Abandoned baby in good condition at Mandaluyong hospital

MANILA, Philippines – The baby that was placed in a box and thrown out from a taxi in Mandaluyong City is in good condition, a report aired over QTV's Balitanghali said on Thursday. In her report, GMA News’ Tricia Zafra quoted Mandaluyong Medical Center resident pediatrician Juliet Congha as saying that the baby’s vital signs remained stable. Congha, however, said the baby would have to undergo more laboratory tests for any infection. The baby survived despite being placed in a box and thrown out of a taxi unit before midnight Wednesday. A report over dzBB earlier said bystanders discovered the baby when they saw a taxi passenger throw out the box along San Rafael Street in Plainview village. The report quoted the police as saying that witnesses jotted down the taxi's license plate as TVH-255. The baby was found alive and was rushed to the Mandaluyong Medical Center. Doctors said the baby might have been inside the box for "six to eight hours." Meanwhile, the television report added that Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos’ office teamed up with personnel from the Land Transportation Office’s Action Center in following the trail of the taxi and its driver. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
