Pagasa: Cold front to bring rains in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — State weather forecasters on Thursday afternoon said a cold front is expected to continue to bring rains to various sections of Luzon and the Visayas, while thunderstorms loom over Mindanao due to wind convergence.   In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a diffused tail-end of a cold front continues to affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas. Wind convergence, meanwhile, is affecting Mindanao.   "The eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers while Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," Pagasa said.   Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas and coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.   Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the northeast and east with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms.   Meanwhile, Pagasa said its gale warning remains in effect over Luzon, saying the surge of the northeast monsoon will continue to cause strong winds and big waves in Luzon's seaboards. Pagasa warned fishing boats and other sea craft against venturing into the sea. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV Â
