Cebu Pacific flight makes emergency landing at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines – A Cebu Pacific flight took an emergency landing Wednesday morning after one of its pilots noticed something wrong with the aircraft’s engine, an airline official said. In a radio interview, Cebu Pacific vice president for communications Candice Iyog said Flight 5J-893 bound for Caticlan in Aklan province “returned to ramp" 10 minutes after taking off from the Ninoy Aquino International Airpot (NAIA). "Nag-return to ramp yung isang eroplano patungong Caticlan this morning. After ten minutes, sabi ng piloto parang may nakitang mali sa engine, may monitor o instrumento na kailangan bumalik siguro. Nakita nila na nagwarning signal so bumalik sila," Iyog said. (The Caticlan-bound plane returned to ramp this morning. After ten minutes, the pilot noticed something wrong with the engine. A warning signal prompted him to return.) Iyog said all 53 passengers of the ETR-72 plane, which took off about 7 to 7:20 a.m., were “deplaned safely and accommodated on the next flight." "Nornal naman ang landing. Ang laman na pasahero 53. Na-acommodate sa susunod na flight. Suffice it to say, everything na nangyari was done on procedure at naka-land tayo safely," she said. (The landing was normal. All 53 passengers were accommodated to the next flight. Suffice it to say, everything that happened was done on procedure and we were able to land safely.) Iyog said that because they will "investigate into the incident" and because the plane will undergo repair, other flights scheduled for the aircraft within the day and next week may be canceled. "Ise-serve ho namin itong aircraft na ito, so posibleng may flights na makansela later in the week (We will first repair the aircraft, so it’s possible that other flights scheduled later in the week may be canceled but we’re still working on that)," she said. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
