NBI recommends criminal raps vs 2 nursing examiners
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday recommended the filing of criminal charges against two Board of Nursing examiners over the controversial leakage in the nursing board examinations given last June. Regional Director Elfren Meneses, chief of the NBI anti-fraud and computer crimes division (AFCCD), said examiners Anesia Dionisio and Virginia Madela should be charged for violation of section 15 of the Act Modernizing the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The PRC, which has jurisdiction over the nusing board, also said in its initial report to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo that Dionisio and Madeja should be slapped with administrative charges for violation of the same provisions. The NBI report, Meneses said, has been forwarded to the bureau's legal division for final review. The AFCCD chief added that the two examiners did not appear before the NBI in relation to the probe. âTheir counsels appeared on their behalf and asked for extension but still they failed to show up to give statement. And we have to act and give an initial report now," he said. Meneses also said that they will ask the deans of nursing colleges to appear before the NBI to shed light on the issue. Only 17,821 out of 42,006 examinees passed the Nurse Licensure Examination given by the PRC's Board of Nursing on June 11 and 12. The examinations had 500 items, or 100 for each of five nursing subjects. Questions on two subjects were reportedly leaked to some examinees. -GMANews.TV
