Liquigaz to raise LPG prices by P2 per kilogram
MANILA, Philippines â Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplier Liquigaz, which serves 70 percent of consumers in Luzon, will raise the prices of its products by P2 per kilogram, a company official said on Friday. "Mataas na yung cost ng acquistion ng gas ngayon [The cost of acquisition of gas is high now]," Liquigaz senior marketing manager Iñigo Golinggay said in an interview over radio dzBB to explain the reason for the price increase. The increase takes effect 12:01 a.m. Saturday. Golinggay said the Department of Energy would be in the best position to say whether there was a shortage in LPG supply in the country, but said Liquigaz's supply remained stable. Liquigaz is one of the suppliers of the LPG Marketers' Association (LPGMA), LPGMA president Arnel Ty said in an interview over radio dzBB. Ty said while some of their suppliers like Liquigaz would raise prices, their member LPG distributors would not increase the cost of their products until February. "Yung pong aming mga suppliers nakapagtaas na ng mga presyo pero kami nakapagdesisyon na iaabsorb muna namin," Ty said. ["Some of our suppliers have raised prices, but we have decided that we will absorb the price hike's blow for the meantime."] As in his earlier statements, Ty maintained that their LPG supply was still low. The LPGMA is a 20-member organization with more than 100 refilling stations nationwide. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
