After spending over two weeks in a detention facility in Guam, four starlets of the "Baywalk Bodies" arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) early Tuesday morning. The four movie starlets denied allegations that they were engaged in prostitution and other offenses while in Guam. They blamed their host for not briefing them on the laws and customs in the United States territory. "We don't know why we were treated this way. We did not violate any law. We didn't do anything below the belt. We just followed instructions. The owner of the bar where we were holding a show did not tell us of the do's and don'ts there," Jeanette Joaquin, one of the starlets, said in Filipino during an interview on dzBB radio. Guam immigration officials on August 17 arrested the four along with five other Filipino women and the local karaoke bar owner who had invited them to go there. Arrested for visa fraud and bribery of a public official was Zenaida Reyes, also known as Heidi Reyes, owner of A-lindog Karaoke Lounge, was arrested for visa fraud and bribery of a public official. She entered the US territory using a P1 visa used by alien performers as part of an entertainment group. A US government informant waited in the bar to check if the Filipino women were indeed performing. Reyes, 50, allegedly asked the informant if he wanted to sit with Joaquin. The informant agreed, then purchased eight shots of tequila for the starlet. Reyes now faces charges of fraud and bribery of a public official. She was released under her personal recognizance and was scheduled to appear at a hearing on September 6. The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by US District Court Judge Joaquin Manibusan. Joaquin said she did not understand the laws there, including the prohibition on drinking liquor. She said she merely accepted a drink offered to her by a customer. Joaquin said she thought some of the customers wanted to "know them better" because they had heard of the "Baywalk Bodies" in the Philippines. Arrested along with Joaquin were Clarissa Mercado, Luxx Laurel, and Palmolive Palma, who were brought to the Department of Corrections' immigration detention facility in Mangilao. The real names of the four arrested "Baywalk Bodies" members are Jenny Maliwanag, 27; Christina Generoso, 24; Amor Pagdilao, 27; and Maria Medalla, 32.
